Playing Blues on a Cigar Box Guitar
Rather than playing single notes when you start with Cigar Box Guitar, try strumming. The basis of all Blues playing is the 12 Bar chord progression.
Strumming this chord progression will give you the basis of Blues playing and help you understand the structure.
All the "old-school" guitarists started with Blues playing first.
Work on the strum pattern.
Count it out aloud - "Down, Down, Down up, Down".
Or count "1, 2, 3 and 4".
Use the slide to "slide up" to the new chords.
