Creedence Clearwater Revival, often abbreviated as CCR, was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California, in 1967. Led by singer, guitarist, and songwriter John Fogerty alongside bassist Stu Cook, drummer Doug Clifford, and guitarist Tom Fogerty, the band became one of the most successful and influential groups of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Known for their swamp rock sound blending rock, blues, country, and southern influences, CCR produced a string of classic hits including “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.” Despite their relatively short career before disbanding in 1972, the band sold millions of records worldwide and remains celebrated for its timeless songs, socially conscious lyrics, and enduring impact on classic rock music.
